I love the best-of-the-year lists that show up as each year ends, and here are my picks for the Best Low-Carb and Keto Recipes of 2023! And this year I’m changing my approach to this round-up just a bit, read more about that below.
This was my eighteenth year sharing recipes on Kalyn’s Kitchen and writing a year-end round-up of new recipes from the year that’s ending. And of course, it’s fun looking over the new recipes and choosing my favorites. But this year when I started narrowing it down, I noticed some of my very favorite recipes from 2023 were updated low-carb versions of recipes from the early days of the blog.
Of course, I’m constantly updating the recipes, not only for better photos or to satisfy search engine preferences, but also because some recipes here are from my original South Beach Diet days when I ate more beans and grains than I do now. And I always like having a lower-carb variation for a favorite recipe I loved in the past!
So for this year-end up post I’m sharing low-carb and Keto favorites from 2023 that were brand new this year as well as updated recipes that now have a new lower-carb version! I narrowed it down to 30 recipes to spotlight, and thanks to my great niece Kara who helps me test the recipes so they work for you, and also helps me decide what recipes deserve an update!

These Air Fryer Buffalo Wings were not only extra easy, they were so, so delicious and extra low in carbs!
We loved this Low-Carb Blueberry Salsa recipe that has blueberries, jicama, and red bell pepper, and this post has ten fun way to eat it without going overboard on carbs!

My site has a lot of breakfast recipes, so this year I didn’t work on too many breakfasts, but there were a few that got an update. For this Cheesy Vegetarian Breakfast Casserole we used mushrooms, green peppers, Feta, and Monterey Jack Cheese for a vegetarian breakfast with only 4 net carbs, but there are other options for vegetables and cheese in the recipe.

It’s probably obvious I’m not that into making desserts and not that good at baking, but Kara and I worked hard on these Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars, and I loved this recipe and have made it a few times for myself.
And finally, after a reader said her peanut butter cookies kept turning out crumbly it set of a round of cookie baking that led to a great updated version of these Sugar-Free Peanut Butter Cookies that has been getting great reviews!
Best Low-Carb and Keto Dinners:
This Keto Crack Chicken Bake seemed to be a wow for everyone who tried it, and even kids and adults who aren’t eating Keto will probably enjoy this for dinner!
Filipino Chicken Adobo was updated and improved this year with the recommendation to use chicken thighs for a more authentic recipe for this famous dish from the Phillipines. And my Filipino eye doctor tells me that this is even better the next day, after the flavors have a chance to soak into the chicken!
Air Fryer Fish Tacos use low-carb tortillas for a healthy and delicious dinner that’s also quick and easy to make. And this recipe has links to instructions for cooking the fish on the stovetop or in the oven if Santa didn’t bring you an Air Fryer!
This Ground Turkey Casserole with Cauliflower Rice is an updated recipe where I absolutely loved the new version made with cauliflower rice, and this recipe that was originally made with rice has great flavors from peppers, mushrooms, Monterey Jack, and Feta cheese!

We updated this Asian Green Salad with Soy-Sesame Dressing that’s perfect for any meal with Asian flavors, and we loved this amazing year-round salad recipe that’s easy to make and very low in carbs! (Make the dressing and keep it in a jar in the fridge!)
This new recipe for Wild Rice Salad with Bacon and Arugula is a fun salad idea for a special meal, and this salad has a variety of low-carb ingredients, with only about 8 net carbs per serving.

This tasty Broccoli Cauliflower Rice Casserole is an updated version of a recipe that originally used brown rice, and this new lower-carb version is a great meatless main dish or an amazing side dish!
There’s no doubt that these Instant Pot Green Beans with Bacon and Gorgonzola were the new side dish I made the most in 2023, and if you like these ingredients I bet you’ll love this recipe!

Slow Cooker Sausage and Peppers is an updated quick and easy Slow Cooker Main dish with only about 10 carbs per serving! And I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are still some people who love using the slow cooker.
Italian Sausage, Zucchini, and Macaroni Soup is an updated version of a favorite soup that I used to make for Denny Family Parties. Please don’t worry about the macaroni in this tasty soup, because this recipe uses Fiber Gourmet Light Elbows and lots of lower carb ingredients, which makes this soup only about 9 net carbs per serving! And if you want a version of the recipe that’s even lower in carbs (and also gluten-free) just skip the macaroni and use more diced zucchini.
